 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is an inspection of the thrust bearing for the outboard cariage. There is also a task for the inspection of the exhaust gate actuation mechanism.
 (1)  
You can use the inpsection procedure for the carriage bearing to examine the bearing with the flap installed on the airplane.

 (2)  
To do the inspection of the exhaust gate actuation mechanism you measure the diameters of the parts that attach the mechanism to the flaps. The parts include the bushings, bearings and bolts on the rod ends and hinges. You will usually do this procedure before you install the outboard trailing edge flap.

Procedure


 S 866-002-001
 (1)  
Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system B: "Supply Hydraulic Power" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (2)  
Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps.

 (3)  
Do this task to depressurize hydraulic system B: "Remove Hydraulic Power" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (4)  
Remove the access panels from the top surface of the midflap (Fig. 601).
