 (b)  Remove the two gimbal bushings from the sides of the gimbals on the two ballscrews: 1) Remove the three bolts that attach the gimbal bushings from
 the attach fitting. 2) Remove the gimbal bushings and shims from the attach fitting. 3) Write down the number and the location of the shims.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CABLES ON THE SLING DO NOT TOUCH THE TRAILING
_______ EDGE OF THE SPOILERS. THE CABLES CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPOILERS. DISCONNECT THE SPOILERS AND MOVE THEM FORWARD IF IT IS NECESSARY.
 (5)  Move the flap aft off the flap tracks.
 NOTE: The total weight of the outboard midflap and aftflap is 343
____ pounds. Use the sling to hold the flaps.

If you will install a different midflap:

 (a)  
Remove the bolts that connect the aftflap pushrods to the aftflap (Fig. 401).

 (b)  
Remove the bolts that connect the fairing support pushrods to the fairing support arms (Fig. 402).

 (c)  
Remove the bolts that connect the fairing support pushrods to the flap carriages.

 (d)  
Remove the carriage bearing support from the midflap: 1) Remove the access panels from the top surface of the midflap to get access to the carriage bearing support. 2) Remove the bolts that attach the carriage bearing support to the midflap. 3) Remove the carriage bearing support and shims from the

 midflap. 4) Measure and make a record of the thickness of the shims.
