 (8)  Adjust the side rollers:
 (a) Tighten the two roller bolts to 30-40 pound-inches.
 (b) Find the midpoint between the two carriage halves (5) and (8)
 at the side rollers.
 (c) Make sure the distance between the side rollers is 1.40 to 1.41
 inches.
 (d) Make sure the distance between each roller and the midpoint
 between the carriage halves is 0.70 to 0.71 inch.
 1) Add or remove the shim laminations below the side rollers
 to get the correct clearance.
 (e) Tighten the mounting bolts for the side roller to 30-40
 pound-inches.
 (f) Install the lockwire on the bolts.

 (Ref 27-51-04/401).

 On the inboard carriage, install the pulley bracket (11) on the carriage halves:

 (a)
Put the pulley bracket on the carriage half.

 (b)
Apply the primer on the bolts.

Install the bolts with the wet primer.

 (d)  
Adjust the pulley bracket (11) until the cables align with the opening in the midflap.

 (e)  
Tighten the bolts.

Tighten the cables until they are not loose and remove the cable clamps.

 A.  There is one task in this procedure: an inspection of the inboard midflap carriage. To do the inspection, you measure the diameters of the bushings and bolts that attach the inboard midflap carriage.

Procedure

 (1)  
Do this task: "Inboard Midflap Carriage Removal"
 (Ref/27-51-14/401).

 (2)  
Measure the parts of the roller on the inboard carriage (Fig. 601):

 (a)  
Remove the parts.

 (b)  
Use a micrometer or a vernier caliper to measure the parts.

 (c)  
Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted dimensions shown in Fig. 601.

 (d)  
Replace the parts that are not in the tolerance.

 (e)  
Install the parts.

 (3)  Do this task: "Inboard Midflap Carriage Installation" (Ref 27-51-14/401).
