 (f)  To remove the inner carriage half (5), remove the pulley and boom roller support (6) with the boom (1). 1) Let the pulley and boom roller support assembly hang from the midflap torque shaft.

 (3)  On an outboard carriage, remove the index plate (12): (a) Make a mark of the position of the index plate. (b) Remove the index plate.

 (4)  On an outboard carriage, remove the cross beam (17).

 (5)  Remove the gimbal shaft (14): (a) Remove the two retaining bolts (13) from the gimbal shaft. (b) Make a note of the total thickness of the shims (15) below the index plate (12) or the bearing retainer (19). (c) Remove the gimbal shaft (14) from the end of the torque shaft (4).

 (6)  On an outboard carriage, remove the outer plate (3).

 (7)  Remove the carriage half (8): (a) Remove the pivot rollers: 1) Move the foreflap to align the pivot rollers (16) with the access holes in the cams (7) and (9). 2) Remove the pivot rollers. (b) Remove the bolts (2), that are nearest to the torque shaft, from the carriage. (c) Remove the two bolts through the plate (10) and the carriage half (8). (d) Remove the carriage half (8).

 (8)  Remove the carriage half (5):
 NOTE:____ You can replace the carriage halves independently.
 (a)  Remove the bolts (2).

Remove the carriage half from the torque shaft (4).

 1)  Turn the carriage half to be clear of the foreflap toggle assembly.

 (c)  
Remove the plate (10) from the carriage half.

 (d)  
Remove the cam (7) or (9) and all of the rollers from the carriage half. 1) Keep the shims that are below the side roller assembly.

If you will install a new carriage half (5 or 8), install the cam

 (7)
 or (9) that you removed:

 (a)  
Install the aft roller with the bolt and the nut.

 (b)  
Install the shims between the roller and the carriage if it is necessary to align the cotter pin holes. 1) Tighten the nut to 200-500 pound-inches. 2) Install the cotter pin. 3) Bend the ends of the cotter pin around the sides of the
