(e) If the exhaust gate and the trailing edge are not in the tolerance, adjust the exhaust gate: 1) Hold the trailing edge of the exhaust gate. 2) Install the rig pin into the FLAP-UP rig pin hole. 3) Remove the rod from the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate
mechanism.
4) Adjust the length of the rod.
NOTE: One half turn of the end fitting will move the aft
____ edge of the exhaust gate approximately 0.115 inch.
5) Install the rod on the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate mechanism: a) Tighten the nuts on the rod to 30-40 pound-inches. b) Tighten the nuts to the nearest cotter pin hole and
install the cotter pins.
(f)
Remove the rig pin.
(g)
Install the inboard panel on the lower surface of the midflap.
(h)
Remove the support from the trailing edge of the exhaust gate.

AIRPLANES WITH TWO PUSHRODS; Adjust the exhaust gate rods (Fig. 402):
(a)
Remove the outboard panel from the lower surface of the midflap.
(b)
Make sure the foreflap pushrod is attached to the foreflap.

(c) (d) Make sure the angular clearance between the upstop and the flap drive ball screw is 170-190 degrees (1/2 turn +/-10 degrees).Make sure the clearance between the exhaust gate actuation mechanism and the structure is a minimum of 0.10 inch.
(e) Make sure the lower surface of the midflap and the exhaust gate align in the limit of +0.00 to -0.15 inch.
NOTE:____ Make sure the trailing edge of the exhaust gate is below the aftflap.
(f) If the exhaust gate and the midflap are not in the tolerance, adjust the exhaust gate pushrod: 1) Install a support to hold the exhaust gate in its position. 2) Remove the rod from the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate actuation mechanism.
3) Adjust the length of the pushrod.
NOTE:____ One half turn of the end fitting will move the trailing edge of the exhaust gate approximately 0.114 inch.
4) Install the pushrod on the exhaust gate and the actuation mechanism.
(g) a) Tighten the nuts to 100-120 pound-inches. 5) Remove the support from the exhaust gate.Install the inboard panel from the lower surface of the midflap.

(4) Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps. (a) Make sure the flaps move correctly.

OUTBOARD FOREFLAP - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of an outboard foreflap. The procedure has these parts:
(1)
The extension of the flaps
(2)
The removal of the foreflap
(3)
A check of the parts which attach the foreflap for worn areas
(4)
The installation of an outboard foreflap
(5)
The retraction of the flaps.
B.
There is an abrasion resistant teflon layer on the top leading edge surface of the foreflap. If it is necessary to repair the layer, refer to 51-21-81/701.
