Remove the flap torque tube (Ref 27-51-64/401).

Clean the torque tube.

Examine the torque tube for worn areas and areas where the wall thickness is decreased.

Repair all defects in the torque tube:
(a)
Use a minimum blend radius of 1.00 inch on the repaired area.
(b)
Make sure the surface finish of the repaired area is 63-microinches or better.
(c)
Make sure the wall thickness is in the limits shown in the table.
(d)
Apply the colored alodized surface treatment to the area.
(e)
Apply an abrasion-resistant teflon finish to the repaired area and to each side of the repaired area (Ref 51-21-81/701).
(5)
Install the torque tube (Ref 27-51-64/401).

A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a procedure for the removal and a task for the installation of the flap right angle gearbox.

Procedure
S 014-002
(1)
Remove the inboard flap track fairing (Ref 27-51-32/401).

(2)
Supply hydraulic system B power (Ref 27-51-00/201).

(3)
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.
NOTE: The flaps must be in the fully retracted position to align
____
the bolt holes.

Remove the hydraulic system B power (Ref 27-51-00/201).

Disconnect the flap torque tubes from the gearbox:
(a)
Install a support to hold the flaps while the torque tubes are disconnected.
(b)
Remove the screws that attach the coupling sleeves to the gearbox coupling.
(c)
Move the sleeves off the couplings to disconnect the torque tubes.

Remove the right angle gearbox:
(a)
Remove the three mounting bolts that attach the support bracket to the structure.
(b)
Remove the three housing bolts that attach the gearbox to the support bracket.
