 CAUTION:_______DO NOT RETRACT THE FLAPS. THE PUSHRODS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE REAR SPAR OF THE MIDFLAP.
 (6)  If you will not install the aftflap immediately, install the trailing edge of the midflap.
 NOTE: It is not necessary to install or tighten all of the screws

Procedure


 S 224-009
 (1)  
If you will install used parts, do this task: "Aftflap Inspection" (Ref 27-51-11/601).

 (2)  
If it is necessary, remove the trailing edge of the midflap (Fig. 401).

 S 424-011

 (3)  
Install the aftflap:

 (a)  
Loosen each deadweight roller eccentric and disengage it from its locking plate.

 (b)  
Adjust each deadweight roller cam to get the maximum clearance from the flap track.

 (c)  
If it is necessary, remove the bottom flight rollers from each carriage.

 (d)  
Put the aftflap on the tracks in the midflap.

 (e)  
Install the bottom flight rollers. 1) Put the two rollers on the carriage. 2) Install the bolt in the rollers. 3) Attach the rollers with the two washers, nuts and cotter


 pins.

 (4)  Adjust the eccentric bushings on the dead-weight rollers at the inboard and outboard aft flap tracks first:
 NOTE:____There are four aftflap carriages. Each side of each carriage includes one top dead-weight roller, one top flight roller, one bottom dead-weight roller, and one bottom flight roller.
 (a)  
With the aftflap fully extended, and with the deadweight rollers in contact with the flap tracks, make sure that the deadweight rollers do not contact the stops.

 (b)  
Adjust the forward deadweight rollers to get the minimum clearance between the forward flight rollers and the flap tracks (0.002 - 0.005 inch).

 (c)  
Adjust the aft deadweight rollers to get a clearance between the aft flight rollers and the flap tracks that is equal to or larger than the clearance on the forward flight rollers, but not more than 0.020 inch.

 (d)  
Adjust the deadweight rollers on the center aft flap tracks the same way as the inboard and outboard aft flap track deadweight rollers.
