Loosen the cables at the turnbuckles.

 (b)  
Remove the cable guard from the flap control unit.

 (c)  
Remove the cables from the follow-up drum.

Remove the hydraulic lines from control valves for the leading edge and the trailing edge flaps.

 (a)  
Put a container below the flap control valves.

 (b)  
Disconnect the hydraulic lines.

 (c)  
Install caps in the ports and plugs in the hydraulic lines.

 (7)  
Remove the flap control unit:

 (a)  
Loosen the bolt input crank of the flap control unit.

 (b)  
Remove the three nuts and washers from the mounting studs for the control unit.

 (c)  
Remove the flap control unit from the airplane.

 (d)  
Install the cable guard, the switch cover, and the lower pan on the flap control unit.

 (1)  
Remove the lower pan, the switch cover and the cable guard from the flap control unit.

 S 374-011

 (2)  
Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the control quadrant shaft and the splines of the input crank (Fig. 401).

Apply a layer of the sealant to the wheel well ceiling around the three mounting studs for the flap control unit.

Install the rig pin F-1 in the flap control unit.

 (5)  
Install the flap control unit:

 (a)  
Engage the input crank of the control unit and the quadrant shaft and put the flap control unit on the mounting studs.


 NOTE: It is easier to align the splines if you move the slide

 of the flap control valve.

 (b)
Install the nuts and washers on the outboard mounting studs.

 (c)  
Attach the control unit to the inboard mounting stud: 1) Remove the finish from the lower surface of the mounting stud.


 2)  Put the washer and the bonding jumper on the mounting stud and install the washer and nut.

 (6)  Do this task to measure the bonding resistance between the control unit and the structure: "Electrical Bonding Check" (SWPM 20-20-00).
 NOTE: The resistance must be less than 0.0025 ohms.

Apply a layer of the primer to the open area.

 (8)  
Tighten the bolt in the input crank of the flap control unit.
