Make sure the time for the flaps to extend is 38.5 |5 seconds.


 NOTE: You must measure the time from the start of the flap
____ movement until the No. 4 ballscrew nut is 1.50 |0.20 inches from the jackscrew downstop.
 (c)  
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.

 (d)  
Make sure the time for the flaps to retract is 38.5 |5 seconds.

Do a test of the operation time for the alternate flap drive system:

 (a)  
Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:

 1)  P6-2 Panel
 a) TE ALT FLAP DRIVE MOTOR
 b) FLAP VALVES


 (b)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the ARM position.


 NOTE: With the ALTERNATE FLAP switch in the ARM position, the
____ standby hydraulic pump motor will operate.
 (c)  Move the flap control lever to the 40-unit detent.
 NOTE: The movement of the flap control lever to the 40-unit
____ position will decrease the load on the flap hydraulic motor when the hydraulic system is pressurized.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE
_______ LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS WILL MOVE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (d)  Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the DOWN position. Keep the switch in this position until the trailing edge flaps stop.
 NOTE: The extension of the trailing edge flaps is controlled
____ by the limit switches. The extension time is from 2 minutes and 6 seconds to 2 minutes and 36 seconds.
 (e)  
Make sure the clearance between the downstop on the ballscrew nut and the lug on the No. 4 jackscrew is 2 to 3 turns.

 (f)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the UP position. Keep the switch in this position until the trailing edge flaps stop.


 NOTE: The retraction of the trailing edge flaps is controlled
____
 by the limit switches.

 (g)  
Make sure that the dimension X is 0.921 to 0.984 inch
 (Fig. 503).


 (h)  
Move the flap control lever to the UP detent.

 (i)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch to the OFF position.

 (j)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the OFF position.

 (8)  
Measure the force necessary to operate the flap control lever:

 (a)  
Make sure the force necessary to move the flap control lever between the detents is not more than 2.5 pounds.


 NOTE:____Do not use the cable cushion. Measure the force at the end of the lever.
