Make sure there is a clearance between the roller and the top and bottom surfaces of the fairing track. 1) If the roller touches the top or bottom surface of the
fairing track, adjust the roller: a) Remove the panel 8215L or 8715R to get access to the exhaust gate actuation mechanism (AMM 12-31-61/201). b) Remove the lockwire and the two bolts that attach the locking plate for the roller shaft. c) Turn the eccentric shaft until there is a clearance between the roller and the fairing track. d) Install the two bolts that attach the locking plate for the roller shaft and install the lockwire.
(b)
Use modeling clay to measure the clearance between the inboard end of the roller and the face of the fairing track.
(c)
Make sure the clearance is 0.04 to 0.20 inch.
1) If the clearance is not in the tolerance, adjust the roller: a) Remove the nut from the outboard end of the roller
shaft. b) Add or remove the washers (Type AN960JD916) to adjust the clearance. c) Install the nut on the roller shaft.
E. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

FLAP LIMIT SWITCHES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of these flap limit switches: The flaps up switch and the flaps down switch. These switches, and five other switches for the flap control system are installed on the flap control unit (Fig. 401).
B. These procedures give instructions for the removal and installation of the other five switches of the flap control unit.

Remove the switch cover from the flap control unit (Fig. 401).

Disconnect the two wire bundle connectors from the receptacles.
(b)
Remove the two support clamps for the wire bundle.

(c) Cut the wire bundle ties and isolate the switch wires from the remaining wires in the bundle.
NOTE: The switch wires for all but the flaps 10-degree switch
____ make one wire bundle and must be isolated to remove the switch.
(d) Remove the switch leads from the connector.
