 FLAP TRANSMISSION - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
 A.  There is one task in this procedure. This task is to measure the minimum torque brake lockout of the transmissions.
 B.  You can use the minimum torque brake lockout test to find a transmission gearbox with a torque brake lockout below the minimum permitted value. You can only find the exact torque brake lockout during an overhaul test. You can use this procedure with the transmission installed on the airplane.

 (3)  Remove the system B hydraulic power (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (4)  Install a support to hold the flaps while the universal joints are removed.

 (5)  Install the torque wrench adapter on the applicable transmission (Fig. 601): (a) Remove the bolt to disassemble the universal joint. 1) Examine the output shaft at the bearing seal for corrosion. 2) If there is corrosion, replace the bearing and seal. (b) Install the torque wrench adapter in the universal joint. (c) Install the torque wrench (250 to 1000 pound-inch range) on the adapter. (d) Put the wrench against the structure to make sure it will not turn.
 NOTE:____ Do not put any part of the torque wrench against the structure except for the handle. To put any other part of the torque wrench against the structure will cause a wrong torque to be applied.

 (6)  Disconnect the torque tube from the inboard side of the right angle gearbox on the same side of the airplane as the transmission. (a) Remove the screws that attach the coupling sleeves to the coupling on the gearbox. (b) Move the coupling sleeves off the couplings to disconnect the torque tube.
