(1)
If you will install a different midflap:
(a)
Install the fairing support arms on the flap carriages (Fig. 402).
(b)
Attach the fairing support pushrods to the fairing support arms: 1) Make sure the initial length of the fairing support
pushrods is 7.40 +/-0.10 inch. 2) Put the fairing support pushrods in the correct position on
the fairing support arms. 3) Install the bolt, washer and nut. 4) Tighten the nuts and install the cotter pins.
CAUTION: INSTALL THE BOLTS WITH THE HEADS UP AND DO NOT INSTALL
_______ WASHERS ON BOLTS HEAD. THE INCORRECT BOLT DIRECTION OR INSTALLATION OF THE WASHER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MIDFLAP AND AFTFLAP.
(c)
Connect the aft pushrods to the aftflap with the bolt heads up. 1) Tighten the nuts and install the cotter pins.
(d)
Install the carriage bearing support on the midflap (Fig. 402): 1) Apply a thick layer of the grease on the slotted hole and bearing on the aft end of the carriage spindle.
2) Put the carriage bearing support on the end of the carriage with the shims on the midflap.
NOTE: Make sure the shims are the correct thickness.

3) Apply a layer of the sealant on the bolts.
4) Install the bolts, washers and nuts to attach the carriage
bearing support to the midflap. 5) Tighten the 1/4 inch nuts to 50-70 pound-inches. 6) Tighten the 5/16 inch nuts to 100-140 pound-inches.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CABLES ON THE SLING DO NOT TOUCH THE TRAILING
_______ EDGE OF THE SPOILERS. THE CABLES CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPOILERS. DISCONNECT THE SPOILERS AND MOVE THEM FORWARD IF IT IS NECESSARY.
(2) Install the sling assembly to hold the flap.

(3) Install the outboard flap (Fig. 401):
(a) With the forward toggle rollers in the track, move the flap
carriages forward on the track.
(b) With the flap carriages near the aft end of the track, measure
the clearance between the flap track and the carriage roller
bolts.
(c) If the clearance is less than 0.050 inch, adjust the rollers:
1) Remove the flap from the tracks.
2) Remove the bolts for the rollers.
3) Add the shims below the heads of the bolts to increase the
clearance.
4) Install the nut.
5) Install the cotter pin. Make sure it does not extend past
the end of the bolt.
(d) Move the flap forward on the tracks.

(4) Install the carriage stops on the flap tracks:
(a) Put the stop in its position on the lower surface of the flap
track.
(b) Move the flaps aft.
(c) Lift the flap until the airload rollers touch the flap track.
(d) Make sure the clearance between the carriage and the carriage
stop is a minimum of 0.06 inch.
(e) Move the flaps fully aft.
(f) Make sure the deadweight rollers touch the flap track.
(g) Make sure the carriage and the carriage stop touch for a
minimum of 0.05 inch.
(h) Move the flap forward.
(i) Install the lockwire on the bolts that attach the carriage
stops.

(5) Do this task: "Outboard Foreflap Installation" (AMM 27-51-37/401).

(6) Remove the sling assembly from the outboard flap.

(7) Move the flap until the sequencing carriage engages the stop and the
deadweight rollers touch the top surface of the flap track.
