 2) Tighten the nut.

Install the cotter pin in the clevis pin.

Install the special bolt in the carriage and spherical bearing:

 (a)  
Apply a layer of the BMS 5-95 sealant to the special bolt.

 (b)  
Install the countersunk washer on the head of the special bolt.

 (c)  
Install the special bolt through the flap carriage and the spherical bearing with the head on the inboard side.

 (d)  
Install the washer and nut on the special bolt.

 (e)  
Apply a bead of the sealant around the head of the bolt, countersunk washer, nut, washer, and spherical bearing.

 (f)  
Apply a thick layer of the grease around the hole that has slots and around the bearing at the aft end of the carriage spindle.

 (8)  
Install the carriage bearing support:

 (a)  
Put the carriage bearing support and the shims in their position on the midflap.


 NOTE: Make sure the thickness of the shims is the same as

 during the removal.

 (b)  
AIRPLANES WITH CASTELLATED NUTS; Do these steps: 1) Install the retainers, radius fillers, bolts, washers and

 nuts to attach the carriage bearing support to the midflap. 2) Tighten the 1/4 inch bolts to 50-70 pound-inches. 3) Tighten the 5/16 inch bolts to 100-140 pound-inches. 4) Install the cotter pins.

 (c)  
AIRPLANES WITH SELF-LOCKING NUTS; Do these steps: 1) Install the retainers, radius fillers, bolts, washers and


 nuts to attach the carriage bearing support to the midflap. 2) Tighten the 1/4 inch bolts to 65-100 pound-inches. 3) Tighten the 5/16 inch bolts to 130-200 pound-inches.

Install the safety link on the carriage:

 (a)  
Install the bolt through the safety link, the bushing and the flap carriage.

 (b)  
Install the radius filler and the nut.

 (c)  
Install the cotter pin in the nut.

 Do this task:  "Outboard Trailing Edge Flap Installation" (Ref 27-51-34/401).

 Install the access panel on the midflap:

 (a)  
Apply a layer of the BMS 5-95 Class C sealant to the access panel and the midflap.

Install the access panel.

 A.  There is one task in this procedure, an inspection of the outboard midflap carriage. To do the inspection, you measure the diameters of the bushings, bearings and spindle on the midflap carriage.
