With the aftflap in the extended position, apply a 10-30 pound downward force to the trailing edge of the aftflap.

Make sure the forward and aft dead-weight rollers touch the flap track.

 (g)  
Make sure there is a minimum clearance of 0.002 inch between the flight rollers and the flap track.

 (h)  
Make sure there is at least one forward and one aft deadweight roller on each flap track touching a track flange.

 (i)  
With the aftflap in the extended position, apply approximately 30 pounds of upward force to the trailing edge of the aftflap, equivalent to an inflight load.

 (j)  
Make sure there is at least one forward and one aft flight roller on each flap track touching a track flange. Make sure that the deadweight rollers do not touch the flap track flanges.

 (k)  
Tighten the nuts on the dead-weight rollers to 0-5
 pound-inches.


 (l)  
Install the cotter pins.


 1)  If it is necessary, loosen the eccentric to the first detent to engage the lock.

 (5)  Make sure the aftflap moves freely:
 NOTE: Make sure the pushrods are clear of the aftflap during the

 movement.

 (a)  
Move the aftflap forward slowly to the retracted position and back to the extended position.

 (b)  
Make sure the aftflap moves freely on the rollers.

 (6)  Temporarily attach the pushrods to the aftflap:
 NOTE: You will temporarily attach the pushrods to make sure you

 can retract the flaps.

 (a)  Install the bolts and nuts to attach the pushrods to the leading edge of the aftflap. Do not tighten the nuts.

Retract the flaps:

 (a)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the ARM position.

 (b)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the UP position to slowly retract the flaps.

 (c)  
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent.

 (d)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the OFF position

 (8)  
If it is necessary, adjust the pushrods:

 (a)  
Examine the clearance between the leading edge of the aftflap and the lower trailing edge of the midflap.

 (b)  
Make sure the clearance is sufficient to permit the retraction of the flaps hydraulically.

 (c)  If it is necessary, adjust the length of the pushrods to change the clearance.

Do this task: "Hydraulic System B Pressurization" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 Adjust the position of the trailing edge flap:

 (a)  
Make sure the distance from the bottom trailing edge of the midflap to the trailing edge of the aftflap is 16.00 | 0.12 inches.

 (b)  
Adjust the ends of the pushrods to get the necessary dimension.

 (c)  
Tighten the checknut on the pushrods and engage the key.

 (d)  
Install the lockwire on the pushrods.

 (12)
 Examine the compression of the seal between the leading edge of the aftflap and the lower trailing edge of the midflap:

 (a)  
Make sure the seal is compressed 10 to 30 percent.

 (b)  
Add or remove the shims below the seal retainers if the seal compression is not in the limits.
