Procedure


 S 224-008
 (1)  
If you will install used parts, examine the parts for worn areas (Ref 27-51-39/601).

 S 424-009

 (2)  
Install the outboard aftflap (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Remove the bolts that attach the four bottom flight rollers to the roller support fitting.

 (b)  
Put the aftflap on the aftflap tracks.

 (c)  
Install the bolts, washers and nuts that attach the four bottom flight rollers to the roller support fitting. 1) Tighten the nut to 30-40 pound-inches. 2) Install the cotter pin.

 (d)  
Move the aftflap until the aft edge of the bottom flight rollers are in the correct position: 1) At the inboard track, the aft edge of the bottom flight


 roller must be 0.10 to 0.30 inch aft of the aftflap track. 2) At the outboard track, the aft edge of the bottom flight roller must be 0.23 to 0.33 inch aft of the aftflap track.

 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THE FORCE IS APPLIED TO A .20 X 4.0 X 6.0 PLATE
 PLACED AGAINST THE UPPER SKIN.  IF YOU APPLY THE FORCE
 DIRECTLY AGAINST THE SKIN, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE

 FLAP.
 (e)  
Apply a 15 to 30 pound force to the top surface of the aftflap at each aftflap track.

 (f)  
Make sure the deadweight rollers touch the aftflap track.

 (g)  
Make sure the clearance between the bottom flight rollers and the aftflap track is 0.000 to 0.025 inch.

 (h)  
If the clearance between the bottom flight rollers and the aftflap tracks are not in the tolerance, adjust the deadweight rollers: 1) Remove the cotter pin, nut, and washer from the bolt for


 the deadweight roller. 2) Remove the eccentric bushing until the eccentric lock is not engaged. 3) Turn the eccentric bushing until the clearance is in the tolerance. 4) Engage the eccentric lock. a) If it is necessary, loosen the eccentric bushing one detent to engage the lock. 5) Install the bolt, washer and nut to attach the deadweight
 roller. 6) Tighten the nut to 12-15 pound-inches. 7) Install the cotter pin.
 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THE FORCE IS APPLIED TO A .20 X 4.0 X 6.0 PLATE
 PLACED AGAINST THE LOWER SKIN.  IF YOU APPLY THE FORCE
 DIRECTLY AGAINST THE SKIN, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE

 FLAP.
 (i)  
Apply a 15 to 30 pound force to the lower surface of the aftflap at each aftflap track. 1) Make sure the flight rollers touch the aftflap track.

 (j)  
Move the aftflap forward and aft on the track.

 (k)  
Make sure the aftflap moves smoothly.
