INBOARD MIDFLAP SEAL PLATE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the removal and a task for the installation of a seal plate for the inboard midflap. This procedure is applicable to the left and the right seal plate.

Procedure
S 864-002
(1)
Supply the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).
S 864-003
(2)
Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps.
S 864-004
(3)
Remove the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).
S 024-005
(4)
Remove the seal plate from the midflap:
(a)
Remove the bolts and screws from the seal plate.
(b)
Remove the seal plate from the midflap.
(c)
Keep all filler plates and shims for the seal plate.

D. Procedure
S 424-007
(1)
Install the seal plate on the midflap:
(a)
Apply the primer to the shims and fillers.
(b)
Put the seal plate in its position on the midflap.
(c)
Apply the sealant to the shims and fillers and put them on the seal plate.
(d)
Install the bolts and screws.
(e)
Put the seal plate at the approximate center of the holes that have slots.
(f)
Tighten the bolts and screws.

Supply the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).

Put the flap control lever in the 5-unit detent to extend the flaps.
(a)
Adjust the aft seal plate to get a clearance of 0.030-0.050 inch between the seal plate and the wing-to-body fairing at the nearest three points. 1) Add or remove spacers to move the seal plate outboard or
inboard.
NOTE:____Measure to find the bolt grip length required. Make sure that the bolts selected provide a positive clamp-up.
(b) Tighten the bolts to 100-140 pound-inches.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.

Make sure the hook engages the flap track fairing.
(a)
Adjust the aft seal plate to get a clearance of 0.030-0.050 inch between the wing-to-body fairing and the lower part of the seal plate at the nearest point.
