 (d)  
Make sure the hooks on the geneva cams (18) are in the released position (Detail D).

 (e)  
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to put the flap system in alternate control.


 CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.
 DO NOT MOVE THE FLAPS IF THE AFTFLAP IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE MIDFLAP. THE AFTFLAP AND THE MIDFLAP WILL BE DAMAGED.
 MAKE SURE THE HOOK ON THE GENEVA CAM MECHANISM IS IN THE RELEASED POSITION BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAPS. YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAPS.
 (f)  
Turn the ALTN FLAPS switch to move the ball screw nut to the position shown in Fig. 402.

 (g)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 1)  P415 Power Distribution Center - Right
 a) 415A18 ALT INBD TE FLAPS


 (h)  
Make sure the hook on the geneva cam mechanism is in the latched position after the flap extension.

 (i)  
Manually move the aftflap to the position shown in Section B-B, Fig. 401.

 (3)  
Install the actuator rod on the aftflap fitting (Detail G):

 (a)  
Put the actuator rods in the aftflap fittings.


 CAUTION:_______ADJUST THE AFTFLAP ACTUATOR RODS (AFT RODS) ONLY. THE NECESSARY DIMENSION MUST BE IN THE LIMITS AT THE TWO ENDS OF THE FLAP TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE FLAPS.
 THE PUSHRODS (1) (FORWARD RODS) MUST BE KEPT AT THE CORRECT LENGTH (45.91 INCHES (1,166 m) ON TRACKS 4 AND 5;
 45.08 INCHES (1,145 m) ON TRACKS 3 AND 6) TO PREVENT ROD LOADS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. THE PUSHRODS CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM THE SPECIFIED LENGTH ONLY WHEN THE ACTUATOR RODS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO GET THE SPECIFIED LENGTH. IF YOU MUST ADJUST THE PUSHRODS, THEY MUST BE THE SAME LENGTH.
 (b)  
Adjust the rod ends: 1) Tighten the checknuts on the rods. 2) Install the lockwire on the checknuts. 3) Make sure you can see the rod end threads through the

 inspection hole.

 (c)  
Install the bushing (83) in the aftflap fitting.

 (d)  
Attach the actuator rod to the aftflap fitting with a bolt (80), a washer (81), and a nut (82).

 (e)  
Tighten the nut (82) to 120 pound-inches (13.6 N-m).

 (f)  
Install the cotter pin.

Adjust the bulb seal on the midflap trailing edge until the seal is compressed as shown in Section B-B.

Put the flap control lever in a position to agree with the flap position.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU DISARM ALTERNATE CONTROL. THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY TO THE POSITION OF THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (7)  
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to disarm the flaps alternate control.

Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system No. 1: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.
 (9)  
Extend and retract the flaps.

 (a)  
Make sure the flaps move smoothly.

 Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the flaps.
