Procedure


 S 018-002
 (1)  
Remove the foreflap carriage stop (AMM 27-51-27/401).

 S 328-014

 (2)  
Remove the corrosion from the flap track surface.

 (a)  
Machine or hand clean corrosion from the top surface of the flap track.


 NOTE: Do not remove more than 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) of
____ material from the flap track. Keep a 63 microinch
 (1.6 micron) finish (SOPM 20-10-02).
 (b)  
Shot-peen the repaired surface (SOPM 20-10-03).

 (c)  
Apply low hydrogen embrittlement cadmium plating to the repaired surface (SOPM 20-42-10).


 S 328-015
 (3)  
Remove the corrosion from the holes for the stop mount (if it is necessary).

 (a)  
Ream the holes to 1/16-inch (1.59 mm) oversize to remove corrosion and to prepare to install the bushing.

 (b)  
Apply low hydrogen embrittlement cadmium plating to the holes (SOPM 20-42-10).

 (c)  Prepare bushings from 17-4 PH CRES.
 NOTE: The inner diameter must match the bolts with a
____ 0.0003-0.0014 inch (0.008-0.036 mm) interference fit.
 (d)  
Apply low hydrogen embrittlement cadmium plating to the bushings (SOPM 20-42-10).

 (e)  
Install the bushings in the holes.

Finish The Repaired Areas


 S 378-011
 (1)  
Apply one layer of the epoxy primer to the repaired area.

 (2)  
Let the primer dry.

 S 378-016

 (3)  
Apply one layer of the polyurethane enamel.

 S 378-013

 (4)  
Let the polyurethane enamel dry.

 (5)  
Install the foreflap carriage stop (AMM 27-51-27/401).

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of an outboard flap carriage. The procedure has these parts:

The removal of the outboard flaps

 (2)
The removal of the carriage

 (3)
A check of the carriage for worn areas

 (4)
The installation of the carriage

 (5)
The installation of the outboard flaps.
