Prepare for the Removal


 S 864-002
 (1)  Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system No. 1: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (2)  Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the trailing edge flaps and attach a DO-NOT-MOVE tag.

Make sure the ground lockpins for the landing gear are installed.

 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (8)  Use the alternate electric mode to move the inboard flaps until the catriage is approximately 7.85 inches forward of the full down position.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT MOVE THE FLAPS AFTER YOU INSTALL ONE FLAPS LOCK. IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL THE SECOND LOCK, REMOVE THE FIRST LOCK. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP DRIVE MECHANISM.
 (9)  Install the TE flap lock onto flap track carriage (Fig. 401):
 NOTE: Install the tool at flap track location number 4 and 5 before
____ you install the tool at flap track location number 3 and 6.
 (a)  
Adjust the flap lock to the correct length.

 (b)  
Loosen the roller lock screws until the roller hook openings are clear.

 (c)  
Attach a safety cable to the airplane structure.

 (d)  
Put the hooks on the deadweight rollers of the forward bogie.

 (e)  
Adjust the roller lock screws to touch the rollers.

 (f)  
Adjust the flap position or the tool length to make sure you can put the pin thru the tool into the fail-safe bar.


 NOTE: Engage the pin ball-lock feature and the top of the
____ bushings with a 1.00-inch (25.4 mm) clearance between the tool and the fail-safe bar. If you adjust the tool too much at flap track location 2 and 7, you cannot install the pin at flap track location 3 and 6.
 (g)  
Tighten the star knob.
 1) Make sure the serrations engage.


 (10)
 Do this task: "Remove Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).
