(r) Tighten the nut to 900-1400 pound-inches (102-158 N-m). Install the cotter pin.
NOTE: Install a maximum of three washers to permit the cotter

pin to engage the nut.
(s) If the carriage thread end has been modified with a bolt, tighten the nut to 700-1000 pound-inches (79-113 N-m) (View B-B, Fig. 401). Install the cotter pin.

Install the failsafe link on the fitting on the carriage:
(a)
Install the bolt into the failsafe link with the bolt head forward.
(b)
Install the washer and the nut on the bolt.
(c)
Tighten the nut to 230-250 pound-inches (26-28 N-m).
(d)
Loosen the nut one quarter turn.

OUTBOARD FLAP CARRIAGE - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. There is one task in this procedure; an inspection of the outboard flap carriage. In the first part you measure the bearings and the carriage. You measure the inner diameters of the two bearings and the outer diameters of the carriage sleeve and the carriage fitting. This check is usually done before you install a carriage.
