 S 424-031
 (1)  
Install the adjustable rod:

 (a)  
Connect the adjustable rod to the support fitting (Section F-F, Fig. 401). 1) Install the bushings in the support fitting. 2) Put the adjustable rod in the support fitting and install

 the bolt, washer and nut. 3) Tighten the nut and install the cotter pin.

 (b)  
Adjust the adjustable rod to the length shown in Section A-A, Fig. 402.

 (c)  
Connect the adjustable rod to the fixed drive link (Section B-B, Fig. 401):


 NOTE: On fairings No. 1 and 8, do not connect the forward door
____ link to the adjustable rod. You will install the forward door link during the adjustment of the fairing doors.
 1) Install the bushings in the fixed drive link. 2) Put the adjustable rod in the fixed drive link and install the bolt, washers and nut.
 3)  Tighten the nut to 270-300 pound-inches (31-34 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
 4)  Install the cotter pin.

 (2)  Do this task: "Outboard Flap Track Fairing Adjustment" (Ref Paragraph 12).

 C.  Procedure
 S 424-034
 (1)  
Install the fixed drive link (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Connect the fixed drive link to the attachment fitting (Section C-C): 1) Put the pin through the fixed drive link and the attachment

 fitting. 2) Install the bolt, washers and nut to attach the pin to the attachment fitting. 3) Tighten the nut to 60-85 pound-inches (7-10 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.

 (b)  
Attach the fixed drive link to the support fitting (Section B-B). 1) Install the bushing in the fixed drive link. 2) Put the support fitting in the fixed drive link and install


 the bolt, washer and nut.
 3)  Tighten the nut to 290-410 pound-inches (33-46 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
 4)  Install the cotter pin.
 (c)  Connect the adjustable rod to the fixed drive link: 1) Install the bushings in the fixed drive link. 2) Install the bolt, washer and nut to attach the adjustable
 rod.
 3)  Tighten the nut to 270-300 pound-inches (31-34 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
 4)  Install the cotter pin.

 (d)  Connect the drive rod to the fixed drive link (Detail B): 1) Install the bushing in the fixed drive link. 2) Put the drive rod in the fixed drive link and install the
 bolt, washers and nut.
 3)  Tighten the nut to 200-300 pound-inches (23-34 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
 4)  Install the cotter pin.

 (2)  
Lubricate the pin on the attachment fitting.

Do this task: "Outboard Flap Track Fairing Adjustment" (Ref Paragraph 12).
