Disconnect the torque tubes from the transmission.
(a)
Remove the screws which attach the spline coupling sleeve to the torque tube.
(b)
Remove the torque tubes from the transmission.

Disconnect the ball screws from the transmission.
(a)
Make a mark of the position of the ball screw and the universal joint.
NOTE: The marks will help to make sure that you can install
____ the ball screw and the transmission correctly.
(b) Remove the two bolts (5), washers (3 and 4) and the nuts (2) which attach the ball screw to the universal joint.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE
_______ BALL SCREW CENTERLINES IS NOT MORE THAN 10 DEGREES. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIVERSAL JOINT.
(c)
Install the ball and screw support tool (Fig. 403).
(d)
If you will not replace the ball screw, turn the ball screw out of the universal joint.

Remove the ball screw if it is necessary (AMM 27-51-41/401).
(a)
Install the support equipment (Fig. 403). 1) If an outboard flap transmission will be removed, install
the hoisting point clamp on the flap track. 2) Attach the lifting strap to the transmission. 3) Attach a fishpole hoist.
NOTE: On the inboard flaps, attach the hoist to the
____ structural attachment point above the flap track. On the outboard flaps, attach the hoist to the hoisting point clamp.

4) Attach the fishpole hoist to the lifting strap.

(5) Remove the transmission (Fig. 402)
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WITH THE FLAP TRACK FAIRINGS. YOU CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FAIRING SKIN.
(a)
If you will remove an outboard flap transmission (1), make sure the forward end of the fairing does not move.
(b)
Remove the bolts (10, 16, and 19), washers (11, 15, and 20), washers (7, 13, and 22), and nuts (8, 12, and 21) which attach the transmission to the flap track.
