(a)
Adjust the tool to the correct length.
(b)
Loosen the roller lock screws until the roller hook openings are clear.
(c)
Attach a safety cable to the airplane structure.
(d)
Put the hooks on the deadweight rollers of the forward bogie.
(e)
Adjust the roller lock screws to touch the rollers.
(f)
Adjust the flap position or the tool length to make sure you can put the pin through the tool into the failsafe bar.
NOTE: If you adjust the tool too much at flap track location
____ number 2, or 7, you cannot install the pin at flap track location number 1 or 8.
(g) Tighten the star knob. Make sure the serrations engage.

CAUTION: DO NOT MOVE THE INBOARD FLAPS AFTER YOU INSTALL ONE FLAP LOCK.
_______ IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL THE SECOND LOCK, REMOVE THE FIRST LOCK BEFORE YOU READJUST THE FLAPS. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP DRIVE MECHANISM.
(4) If you will inspect a ball screw on an inboard trailing edge flap, install one inboard trailing edge flap lock tool on the carriage.
NOTE: The ball screw inspection requires one lock on the affected
____
trailing edge flap.
(a)
Adjust the tool to the correct length.

Attach a safety cable to the airplane structure.
(d)
Adjust the roller lock screws to touch the rollers.
(e)
Adjust the flap position or the tool length to make sure you can put the pin through the tool into the failsafe bar.
NOTE: Engage the pin ball-lock feature and the top of the
____ bushing, with a 1.00 inch clearance between the tool and the failsafe bar. If you adjust the tool too much at flap track location number 4 or 5, you cannot install the pin at flap track location number 3 or 6.
1) Insert the pin through the forward hole of the lock at flap track location number 4 and 5, and the aft hole of the lock at flap track location number 3 and 6. Slide the pin through the bushed hole in the bottom of the track failsafe bar.
(f) Tighten the star knob. Make sure the serrations engage.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE BALL SCREW
_______ CENTERLINES IS NOT MORE THAN 10 DEGREES. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIVERSAL JOINT.
(5) Install the ball and screw support tool.

Remove the gimbal caps:
(a)
Remove the four bolts that connect the gimbal caps and the gimbal.
(b)
Remove the gimbal caps from the ball screw nut.
