E. Install An Outboard Flap Track

(1)
Install the foreflap carriage stop:
(a)
Make sure the shims are 0.125 inch (0.318 cm) thick.
(b)
Apply a layer of sealant to the surfaces that touch, on the shims, flap track and foreflap carriage stop.
(c)
Put the concave side of the shims against the flap track.
(d)
Put the carriage stop against the other side of the shims.
(e)
Apply a layer of sealant to the shank and the threads of the bolts.
(f)
Install the bolts.
(g)
Tighten the bolts to 450-550 pound-inches (51-62 N-m).
(h)
Make sure the sum of the clearances A and B between the flap track and the bearing plate is 0.01-0.07 inch (0.25-1.78 mm).
(i)
Apply a bead of sealant around the heads of the bolts.

(2)
Install the foreflap upstop.
(a)
Install the bushing in the upstop bolt hole in the flap track.
(b)
Apply sealant to the bolt.
(c)
Align the foreflap upstop with the bolt hole.
(d)
Install the bolt, washers and the nut.
(e)
Tighten the nut to 2000-2200 pound-inches (226-249 N-m).

(3) Examine the fuse bolt and the support fitting for worn areas (Ref 27-51-27/601).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE BUSHINGS ARE NOT ABOVE THE FITTING OR BELOW THE
_______ WING SURFACE. THE WING SURFACE CAN BE DAMAGED WHEN THE FLAPS ARE OPERATED.
(4) Install the two bushings in the aft bolt holes in the flap track.
NOTE: Make sure that the bushings extend as shown in section B-B.

Apply a layer of BMS 3-33 grease on the bearing plates and the flap track surface.

Install the bearing plates on the attachment fittings.

Install the outboard flap track.
(a)
Use the flap track sling to lift the flap track into its position.
(b)
Align the flap track forward bolt hole with the support fitting bolt hole.
(c)
Apply BMS 3-24 grease to the shank and the threads of the fuse bolt.
