INBOARD FLAP CARRIAGE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of an inboard flap carriage. The procedure has these parts.

The removal of the inboard flaps
(2)
The removal of the carriage
(3)
An examination of the carriage for worn areas.
(4)
The installation of the carriage
(5)
The installation of the inboard flaps.

Procedure
S 014-002
(1)
Remove the inboard flaps (Ref 27-51-01/401).
S 014-003
(2)
Remove the aftflap geneva cam and the aftflap operating mechanism (Ref 27-51-39/401).
S 014-004
(3)
Remove the access doors 577AT, 577BT, 577CT, 577DT, 577ET, 577FT (on the left wing) or 677AT, 677BT, 677CT, 677DT, 677ET, 677FT, (on the right wing) from the top surface of the midflap.
S 024-005
(4)
Remove the inboard flap carriage (Fig. 401)
(a)
Remove the bolt which attaches the failsafe link to the carriage.
(b)
Hold the carriage in its position.
NOTE: Hold the carriage to make sure there is no force on the
____
thrust bearing or link.
(c)
Remove the nut and washers which hold the carriage in the link.
(d)
Remove the lockbolt from the retainer nut.
(e)
Remove the locknut and the retainer from the retainer nut.
(f)
Put a screwdriver blade between the end of the lug on the carriage spindle and the end of the retainer collar antirotation lug (Detail C, Fig. 401).
NOTE: The retainer collar must not turn while the retainer nut
____
is loosened.
(g)
Loosen and remove the retainer nut from the retainer collar. Use a main carriage retainer nut wrench.
(h)
Loosen the retainer collar from the carriage.
