Prepare to Install the Fairings (No. 1 and 8)

Do this task: "Outboard Flap Track Fairing Inspection"
(Ref 27-51-31/601).

Adjust the fairing doors:
(a)
Make sure the seal retainer on the secondary door is set to the same level above the door as the retainer on the fairing.
(b)
Adjust the door to the fairing (Fig. 404): 1) With the doors and the upper and aft links installed in the fairing, put the rigging bar across the fairing frame.
2) Pull the arm up, at the joint, to the rigging bar until the clearance between the rigging bar and the arm is 0.00 to
0.10 inch (0.0 to 2.5 mm) (Section C-C).
a) Make sure that the force necessary to pull the arm to the correct position is approximately 20 pounds (89 newtons).
3) Adjust the upper and aft door links until the forward inboard corner of the secondary door aligns with the movable fairing.
(c) Adjust the stop bolt: 1) Adjust the stop bolt until there is 0.80 inches (20.3 mm)
from the stop bracket to the stiker plate. (Section A-A). 2) Manually move the doors through a full cycle.
NOTE: Let the forward door link stay disconnected until
____ the last adjustment of the fairing.
a) Make sure that the maximum deflection of the stop bracket is 0.10 to 0.20 inch (2.5 to 5.1 mm) with the door approximately at the 3/4 open position.

b) Make sure that the doors move smoothly.
(d)
Install the lockwire on the door links.
(e)
Make sure that the seal is compressed in the tolerance (B-B): 1) Adjust the seal if it is necessary.

Install the Outboard Flap Track Fairing

On fairings No. 2 and 7, do this task: "Outboard Flap Track Fairings Inspection" (Ref 27-51-31/601).

Remove the snubber block (62) and shims (63) from the movable fairing (Detail E, Fig. 403).
NOTE: You will install the snubber block during the fairing

adjustment.
(a) Remove the bolt (65), washer (66) and nut (64).

Install the hinge if you removed it (Section A-A, Fig. 403):
(a)
Assemble the brace (6) and the hinge fitting (15).
(b)
On fairings No. 1 and 8, attach the brace (6) and the hinge fitting (15) with the bolt (7), washer (8), and nut (9).
(c)
On fairings No. 2 and 7, attach the brace (6) and the hinge fitting (15) with the bolt (7), washer (8 and 56) and nut (9).
(d)
Install the bushing (40) in the hinge fitting.
