CAUTION:_______ ADJUST THE AFTFLAP ACTUATOR RODS (AFT RODS) ONLY. THE
AFTFLAP MUST BE IN THE TOLERANCE SHOWN IN SECTION B-B ON
THE TWO ENDS OF THE AFTFLAP TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE
FLAPS.
THE PUSHRODS (1) (FORWARD RODS) MUST BE KEPT AT THE
CORRECT LENGTH (36.89 INCHES) (937 mm) TO PREVENT ROD
LOADS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. THE PUSHRODS CAN BE DIFFERENT
FROM THE SPECIFIED LENGTH ONLY WHEN THE ACTUATOR RODS
CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO GET THE SPECIFIED LENGTH. IF YOU
MUST ADJUST THE PUSHRODS, THEY MUST BE THE SAME LENGTH.
(b)
Adjust the rod ends: 1) Tighten the checknuts on the rods. 2) Install the lockwire on the checknuts. 3) Make sure you can see the rod end threads through the
inspection hole.
(c)
Put the bushing (33) in the aftflap fitting.
(d)
Attach the actuator rod the the aftflap fitting with a bolt (29), washers (28 and 31), and nut (32).
(e)
Tighten the nut to 270-300 pound-inches (31-34 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
(f)
Install the cotter pin.

Adjust the bulb seal on the midflap trailing edge until the seal is compressed as shown in Section B-B, Fig. 401.

Put the flap control lever in the position of the flaps.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

P415 Power Distribution Panel 1) 415M24 ALT OUTBD TE FLAPS

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU DISARM ALTERNATE CONTROL. THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to disarm the flaps alternate control.

Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system No. 4: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.

Extend and retract the flaps.
(a)
Make sure the flaps move smoothly.

Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the flaps and attach a DO-NOT-MOVE tag.

Do this task to lubricate the aftflap drive mechanism: "Trailing Edge Flap System Lubrication" (AMM 12-21-20/301).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

Remove the DO-NOT-MOVE tag and put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.

Do this task to depressurize hydraulic system No.4: "Hydraulic System Depressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).
