If you will disconnect the movable fairing at the flap track and fixed drive link, do the following (Fig. 401, View B). 1) Put padding inside the movable fairing to protect the
linkage assembly and fairing skin from scratches and abrasions. 2) Remove the bolt that attaches the drive rod to the midflap fitting. 3) Disconnect the fixed drive link from the flap track (View D-D). 4) Remove the bolt (32), nut (33) and washers (34) that hold the link pivot pin (31) in place.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LINK PIVOT PIN, THE FLAP DRIVE
_______ LINK WILL SEPARATE FROM THE FLAP TRACK. BE PREPARED TO LOWER THE LINKAGE ASSEMBLY ONTO THE PADDING IN THE MOVABLE FAIRING. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT THE LINKAGE ASSEMBLY, DAMAGE TO HARDWARE COULD OCCUR.
5) Remove the link pivot pin (31) from the joint.
(c)
If you will disconnect the movable fairing at the fairing fitting and the support fitting, remove two bolts (29 and 30) which attach the support fitting to the fairing.
NOTE:____Make sure that the fairing is correctly held. The fairing weighs approximately 110 pounds (50 kilograms).
(d)
Remove two bolts (19 and 20) which attach the fairing to the hinge.
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WITH THE FAIRING DURING THE REMOVAL. THE FAIRING SURFACE IS EASILY DAMAGED.
(e)
Lower the fairing from the airplane.
NOTE: The fairing will turn easily in the handling dolly.
____ Use the guide ropes to make sure that the fairing does not turn in the handling dolly.
