INBOARD FLAP CARRIAGE - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains one task, an inspection of the inboard flap carriage. To do the check, you measure the inner diameters of the bearings and the outer diameter of the carriage spindles.
B. You usually do this procedure before you install a carriage in a midflap. You must remove the carriage removed from the airplane to do this procedure.
C. In the second part you make sure that the main carriage retainter nut is correctly tightened.

Remove the inboard flap carriage (Ref 27-51-23/401).

Examine the inboard flap carriage bearings and spindles for worn areas:
(a)
Remove the parts to be examined.
(b)
Use a micrometer to measure the parts.
(c)
Compare the dimensions you measured, with the permitted dimensions shown in Fig. 601.
(d)
Repair or replace the parts which are not in the tolerance.
(e)
Install the parts.

Put the flap control lever in the 30 unit detent to extend the flaps.

Remove the lockbolt from the retainer nut.

Remove the locknut and retainer from the retainer nut.

Make sure the retainer nut is tightened to 400 pound-feet (540 N-m).
