Prepare for the Adjustment

(1)
Remove the access panels from the applicable fairing:
567BB, 567CB, 567DB, and 567EB from track No. 1
565BB, 565CB, 565DB, and 565EB from track No. 2
665BB, 665CB, 665DB, and 665EB from track No. 7
667BB, 667CB, 667DB, and 667EB from track No. 8.

Hold the fairing with a strap attached to the flaps.

Disconnect the drive rod from the fixed link (Fig. 501).
NOTE: The fairing will not touch the flaps when you retract the

flaps if the drive rod is disconnected.

(4) Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system No. 4: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (Ref 29-11-00/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the outboard flaps.

D. Adjust the Outboard Flap Track Fairing
S 835-008
(1)
Adjust the support linkage for the outboard flap track fairing (Fig. 501):
(a)
Adjust the adjustable rod to get the lateral dimension as shown in Section D-D:
NOTE:____A piece of tape with two marks can help. The marks must be 1.65 inch (4.19 cm) apart for fairings No. 1 and 8 or
1.31 inch (3.33 cm) apart for fairings No. 2 and 7.
1) Install the piece of tape adjacent to the connection with one mark aligned with the fairing fitting. 2) Use a straightedge to measure the flap track position in relation to the flap.
(b)
Make sure the clearance between the fairing and wing lower surface is in the limits shown on Section B-B: 1) If it is necessary to adjust the clearance, adjust the
drive rod and the support fitting to move the fairing.
(c)
Install the bolt, bushing, washers, and nut which attach the drive rod: 1) Tighten the nut to 200-300 pound-inches (23-34 N-m). 2) Install the cotter pin.
(d)
Adjust the clearance between the seal retainer and the wing lower surface: 1) Make sure the clearance is in the limits shown on
Section B-B.
(e)
Tighten the checknuts on the rods:
1) Install the lockwire on the checknuts.

Adjust the outboard flap track fairing:
(a)
Make sure that the distance between the universal joint and the ball screw nut (dimension X) is in the limits shown on Detail F.
