On fairing number 4 and 5, adjust the drive rod assembly
(Fig. 501, View E):
(a)
Measure and record the length of the drive rod.
(b)
Adjust the length of the drive rod assembly.
NOTE: If the length of the drive rod is 30.8 inches (78.2 cm)
____ adjust the drive rod assembly to 34.97 +/- 0.03 inches
(88.82 +/- 0.08 cm) between the bearing centers. If the length of the drive rod is 29.8 inches (75.7 cm), adjust the drive rod assembly to 33.97 +/- 0.03 inches
(86.28 +/-0.08 cm) between the bearing centers.

Lift the fairing and install the drive rod.

Install the bolt, bushing, washers and the nut which attach the drive rod.

Tighten the nut to 200-300 pound-inches (23-34 N-m).

Install the cotter pin.

Adjust the support linkage.

(1) Adjust the adjustable rod to get the lateral dimension as shown in Section C-C.
NOTE:____A piece of tape with two reference marks can be helpful. The marks must be 0.31 inch (7.9 mm) apart for flap tracks No. 4 and 5 or 0.43 inch (10.9 mm) for flap tracks No. 3 and 6.
(a)
Install a piece of tape adjacent to the connection with one reference mark aligned with the fairing lug.
(b)
With the flap retracted, use a straightedge to measure the flap track position in relation to the flap.

(2) Make sure that the clearance between the fairing and the flap lower surface is in the limits of section B-B and E-E.

(3) If adjustment is necessary, adjust the drive rod and the support fitting at the same time to move the fairing into its position.
NOTE: On fairing No. 3 and 6, do not change the adjustment of the
____ drive rod end which is attached to the fixed drive link.
