(1)
Do this task to clean the forward bulkhead for a good electrical bond: "Hand Clean Metal Surfaces With Abrasives" (AMM 20-11-14/701).

Install the flap control input lever assembly (Fig. 401):
(a)
Put the input lever assembly in its position. Help the control rod through the center bulkhead.
(b)
Install the shims in the correct sequence.
(c)
Attach the housing to the center bulkhead with four bolts, washers, and nuts.
(d)
Attach the housing to the forward bulkhead with two bolts and washers.

Do this task to measure the bonding resistance between the bolts and the forward bulkhead: "Check Electrical Bonding" (AMM 20-22-01/601). The resistance must not be more than 0.001 ohm.
(4)
Connect the electrical connector.

Put the rods in their position.

Do a Test of the Input Lever Assembly

(1) Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4:

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
(2)
Do the input lever assembly operational test:
(a)
Move the flap control lever from the UP detent to the 30-unit detent. Stop at each detent position to permit the flaps to move to the correct position.
(b)
At each position, make sure the EICAS caution message FLAPS does not come into view.
(c)
At each position, make sure the flap position indicator agrees with the position of the flap control lever.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.
