2) There is no limit on the quantity of nicks, dents and
scratches if:
a) The nicks and dents are not more than
0.01 inch (0.2 mm) in depth.
b) A 50 cycle maximum service extension is permitted if the nicks, dents and sheared edges are not more than
0.035 inch (0.9 mm) in depth.
3) There is no limit on the quantity of wear because of
shingling if not more than 0.005 inch (0.1 mm) in depth
after the removal of high metal.
4) Shingled mid-span shrouds are not serviceable. A 50 cycle maximum service extension is permitted as follows (Fig. 602):
NOTE: Shingling is not easy to find if you look at the
____ fan directly from the front. To correctly examine for shingling, the mid-span shroud interfaces must be seen while the fan rotor is slowly turned by hand.
a) There is no sign of contact in the airfoil to shroud fillet. b) There is no sign of shroud distortion.
NOTE: Compare the blade with an adjacent blade for
____
reference.
c) Turn the shingled blades to the 12 o'clock position and unshingle by hand. d) Remove the blades for a full inspection in the shop before the 50 cycles extension is completed.
(h) Tip:
1) There is no limit on the quantity of blades with tip curl of the leading edge as follows: a) The tip curl does not extend more than 0.5 inch
(12.7
mm) across the blade tip. b) The tip curl does not extend more than 0.5 inch
(12.7
mm) down the leading edge. c) The maximum deflection from the initial contour is not more than 0.25 inch (6.3 mm). d) The angle of the deflection is not more than 60 degrees.
2) A maximum of six blades with tip curl of the leading edge is permitted with the limits as follows: a) The tip curl does not extend more than 1.3 inch (33 mm)
across the blade tip.
