4) Connect a light source to a 110 VAC 60 Hz grounded power source and connect the ground. 5) Connect the fiber light cable to the fiberscope and to the port on the light source. 6) Turn on the light source and install the fiberscope between the horizontal drive shaft and the housing. 7) Examine the tab washer for broken tabs or for tabs that are gone.
 (b)  If the tab washer for the horizontal drive shaft is not broken or is not gone, remove the TGB and replace the tab washer for the radial bevel gear (AMM 72-62-01/401). 1) A service extension of 375 hours is permitted if the tab
 washer for the radial bevel gear is broken and these limits are obeyed: a) You must examine the AGB/TGB magnetic chip detectors
 and the scavenge screens at each 125 hour increment. b) No more tabs are found.
 (c)  
If the tab washer for the horizontal bevel gear is broken or has tabs that are gone, remove the TGB and replace the tab washer (AMM 72-62-01/401).

 (d)  
If the tab washer for the horizontal bevel gear has these conditions, make an inspection of the washer at each 375 hour increment or remove the TGB and replace the tab washer (AMM 72-62-01/401): 1) The tab washer is not broken 2) There is a minimum of one remaining tab that is bent 3) There is a minimum or two remaining tabs that are straight.

 (e)  
If the tab washer for the horizontal bevel gear has these conditions, remove the TGB and replace the tab washer (AMM 72-62-01/401): 1) The tab washer is not broken 2) There are no remaining tab that are bent 3) There is less than two remaining tabs that are straight.

 (4)  If not already done, do a check of the AGB/TGB magnetic chip detector for metal bearing particles.
 (a)  
If the inspection that follows indicates input bevel gear roller bearing damage and if the MCD inspection was done for a scheduled maintenance program, this is the Continue-In-Service limit before the TGB replacement: 1) A Continue-In-Service limit of 2 cycles is permitted if

 there were no pilot reports of vibration or abnormal noise.

 (b)  
If you find metal bearing particles, do a borescope inspection of the roller bearing for the input bevel gear as follows: 1) Disconnect the vent pressure tube from the vent nipple on


 the TGB.

2)  Remove the four bolts that attach the vent nipple to the TGB housing.
 3)  Remove the vent nipple from the TGB housing. a) Keep the gasket for the installation.
 4)  Remove the five bolts that attach the N2 drive pad cover to
 the AGB.
 5)  Remove the N2 drive pad cover and discard the O-ring.
 6)  Examine the roller bearing for the input bevel gear as
 follows:
 a)  Connect a light source to a 110 VAC 60 Hz grounded power source and connect the ground.
 b)  Connect the 0.24 inch (6.0 mm) flexible borescope to the fiberscope and to the port on the light source.
 c)  Turn on the light source and install the fiberscope through the vent nipple port of the TGB.
 d)  Manually turn the TGB and examine the roller bearing for the input bevel gear for damage.
 e)  If the roller bearing is damaged, replace the TGB (AMM 72-62-01/401). See the Continue-In-Service limit above.
 f) If the roller bearing is not damaged, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401). 7) Install the gasket, lubricated with engine oil, on the vent nipple. 8) Lubricate the four bolts with graphite grease and install the vent nipple on the TGB housing.
 9)  Tighten the bolts to 50-60 pound-inches (6-7 Newton meters) and install a lockwire a) Attach a lockwire to the bolts.
 10) Lubricate the threads of the vent nipple with engine oil and connect the vent pressure tube to the vent nipple.
 11) Lubricate a new O-ring with engine oil and install it on the N2 pad drive cover.
 12) Lubricate the five bolts with graphite grease and install the N2 drive pad cover on to the AGB.
