(1) Open the left and right fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS PROCEDURE WHEN YOU OPEN THE

THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY
TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2)
Open the left and right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(3)
Remove the transfer gearbox (AMM 72-62-01/401).

(4)
Do these steps to remove the radial drive shaft (RDS):
(a)
Thread the puller in the end of the radial drive shaft.
(b)
Carefully remove the radial drive shaft.
(c)
Remove the puller.
(d)
Keep the radial drive shaft in a protective tube.

(5) Do these steps to remove the inner and outer housings (Fig. 808):
(a) Put a container below the engine for the engine oil leakage.
WARNING: DO NOT USE CLEANING SOLVENTS NEAR OPEN FLAMES, AREAS WHERE
_______ SPARKS CAN OCCUR, OR WHERE THERE IS INADEQUATE VENTILATION. CLEANING SOLVENTS ARE FLAMMABLE, VOLATILE, AND POISONOUS.
(b)
Remove the grease or oil with acetone where you removed the transfer gearbox.
(c)
Remove the 4 bolts that hold the outer housing to the fan frame.
(d)
Install the guide puller in the inner and outer housings.
(e)
Carefully remove the inner and outer housings.
(f)
Remove the guide puller from the inner and outer housings.

(6) Do these steps to install the new inner and outer housings:
(a)
Clean all the engine oil from the inner surface of the bore diameter (fan frame strut number 10) with a lint-free cloth that is wet with acetone.
(b)
Clean all the grease from the new inner and outer housings with a lint-free cloth that is wet with acetone.
(c)
Put a light layer of engine oil on the two new O-rings for the outer housing.
(d)
Install the O-rings on the external grooves of the large diameter of the outer housing.
(e)
Install the outer housing on the guide puller.
(f)
Put a light layer of engine oil on the new O-ring for the inner housing.
(g)
Install the O-ring in the external groove of the small diameter of the inner housing.
(h)
Install the inner housing on the guide puller and on the diameter of the outer housing.
