 (6)  Visually examine the AGB for damaged inserts at the handcranking pad cover location.
 ú ú ú  (a)  If no more than one insert is damaged and it is preventing the installation of one bolt to secure the cover, do these steps:1) Continued service is permitted until the next engine shopvisit.
 ú  2)  Use a temporary marking to identify the bolt that wasintentionally uninstalled.

 (7)  Do a check on the AGB scavenge chip detector for rivets as follows:
 NOTE:____ When you do this inspection, look at the records of all the inspections for rivets that were done before. Add the quantity of all rivets found in all inspections and then do the steps below. You must do this at all subsequent inspections until the bearing of the control alternator gearshaft is replaced.
 (a) (b) (c)  If you find one rivet, the engine is serviceable but you must do an inspection of the chip detectors after each 50 hours of operation. 1) Make a record of the number of rivets found and the date.If you find two rivets, the engine is serviceable but you must replace the control alternator gearshaft before the next 10 hours of operation. 1) Make a record of the number of rivets found and the date.If you find three or more rivets, replace the control alternator gearshaft (AMM 72-63-00/801).

Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Do these steps to make an inspection of the ball bearing gearshaft of the N2 control alternator (Fig. 801):

 (a)  
Move the housing for the horizontal drive shaft of the transfer gearbox (TGB) rearwards (AMM 72-62-01/401).

 (b)  
Make an inspection of the ball bearing cage of the control alternator gearshaft for rivets which are gone.

 (c)  
If no rivets are gone, install the housing for the horizontal drive shaft.

 (d)  
If there are rivets which are gone, remove the control alternator gearshaft.
