On the generator drive pad, remove the shroud from the gearbox gear shaft (Fig. 203).
(c)
Remove the seal housing with the jackscrews (Fig. 203).
1) Remove and discard the O-ring from the outer diameter of the housing.
(d)
Remove the rotating carbon ring with the applicable seal removal/installation tool (Fig. 202):
NOTE: Use the tool 856A3427 or 856A3576 on the drive pad seals
____ for the fuel pump, generator, and hydraulic pump.
Use the 856A3511 tool or 856A3576 on the starter pad seal.
1) Engage the claws behind the rotating ring and make the sleeve be against the rotating ring. 2) Tighten the nut until the rotating ring is held tight by
the claws. 3) Tighten the screw. 4) Use the slide hammer to remove the rotating ring. 5) ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 72-811;
Remove and discard the O-ring.
6) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-811; Do the steps that follow: a) Remove and discard the bal seal for the starter pad. b) Remove and discard the O-ring for these components:
-fuel pump pad
-hydraulic pump pad
-constant speed drive/AC generator pad
-VSCF generator/converter pad.
7) Loosen the nut and the screw. 8) Remove the rotating ring from the tool.

WARNING: DO NOT GET THE SOLVENT IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN.
_______ DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENT. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENT. KEEP THE SOLVENT AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. THE SOLVENT IS POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE. IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Clean the gear area, that will touch the rotating ring, with the solvent (Fig. 203):
(a) Remove all of the oil solids that stay on the gear area.
NOTE: This will prevent possible damage to the O-ring seal
