(a) OPTION ONE: Remove the studs that have locking tabs. 1) Use a thin grinding wheel to remove the tack weld. 2) Loosen and remove the stud.
a) Discard the stud.
3) Disengage the locking tab from its groove.
4) Look for the weld material in the insertion groove for the
locking tab. 5) Remove the weld material that you find with the grinding wheel.
(b)
OPTION TWO: Remove the studs that do not have locking tabs. 1) Use a thin grinding wheel to remove the tack weld. 2) Loosen and remove the stud.
a) Discard the stud.
(c)
Use clean, dry, compressed air to remove unwanted material from the repair area.

(3) Install a new stud (Fig. 805A):
NOTE: The locking tab has been deleted and is no longer needed .
____ Use this procedure whatever the previous configuration.
(a) Install the studs that do not have locking tabs.
1) Measure the radius that is found in the stud hole in the frame (Fig. 805B).
NOTE: The CFMI Turbine Rear Frame has two possible
____
configurations:
-
Configuration One has stud holes with a radius of 0.008-0.016 inch (0.2-0.4 mm).
-
Configuration Two has stud holes with a radius of 0.039-0.047 inch (1.0-1.2 mm).
a) If the stud hole radius measures between 0.008 inch
(0.2mm) and 0.016 inch (0.4 mm) (Configuration One),
continue the procedure.
b) If the stud hole radius measures more than 0.016 inch
(0.4 mm) (Configuration Two), rework the stud per CFMI SPM 70-44-10 (Fig. 805C). 2) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease to the threads and
mating surfaces of the new stud. 3) Use your hand to install the stud. 4) Tighten the stud to a torque of 490 to 530 pound-inches
