(4) Open the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(5) Install the protective mats into the lower half of the inlet cowl.
(a) Apply tape to the seam of the mat.

If not already done, do the procedure to prepare for the inspection.

Examine the fan frame case for the damage as follows:
(a) Cracks on the fan frame case 1) There is no maximum limit of cracks if they are less than
0.08 inch (2 mm) in length and not less than 1.00 inch
(25.4 mm) from other cracks.
2) A maximum service extention of 10 cycles or 25 hours is permitted if the cracks are not more than 0.16 inch
(4.0 mm) in length and are not connected by less than
1.0 inch (25.4 mm) from other cracks.
(b) Dents or nicks on the struts: 1) There is no maximum limit of cracks if they are less than
0.08 inch (2.00 mm) in depth.
2) A maximum service extention of 10 cycles or 25 hours is permitted if you find dents or nicks.
(c) There is no maximum limit for corrosion caused by discoloration. 1) If it is possible remove the rust (AMM 72-33-00/601).
