On the left side of the engine, install the straight pin on the lower actuation ring segment.

 (2)  Install the connecting link on the actuation ring segments as follows:
 (a)  
For the right side links, install the attachment clevis on the top.

 (b)  
For the left side links, install the attachment clevis on the bottom.

 (c)  
The link engages the locating (straight) pin and the vane lever arms.

 (3)  
Install the headed pin into the connecting link and the ring segment.

 (4)  
Lubricate the bolts (four locations) with graphite grease.

 (a)  
Connect the connecting link to the top and the lower actuation ring segments.

 (b)  
Tighten the bolts to 55-70 pound-inches (6-8 Newton meters).

 (5)  Make sure you install the straight pin correctly.
 (a)  
Try to put the lockwire through the inspection hole in the connecting link.

 (b)  
If the lockwire goes through the connecting link, then the straight pin is not there.

 (c)  
Remove the connecting link.

 (d)  
Install the pin.

 CAUTION: THE LEVER ARMS MUST BE ENGAGED CORRECTLY WITH THE CONNECTING
_______ LINK. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE BLADES CAN OCCUR.
 (6)  
Make sure you engage all the lever arms correctly in the ring connecting link.

 (7)  
Install the lockwire on the bolts.

 (8)  
Lubricate the D-head bolt with graphite grease.

 CAUTION:_______ THE D-HEAD OF THE BOLT MUST BE INSTALLED CORRECTLY IN THE
 OPENING OF THE CONNECTOR CLEVIS.  DO NOT TURN, ADJUST OR
 DISASSEMBLE THE ADJUSTABLE LINK.  IF YOU DO MOVE THE ADJUSTABLE
 LINK, YOU MUST RIG THE ADJUSTABLE LINK AGAIN.  IF YOU DO NOT

 OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, INCORRECT ENGINE OPERATION CAN OCCUR.
 (9)  Put the bellcrank adjustable link in the connector clevis.
 (a)  
Attach the link and clevis with the D-head bolt and nut when the bolt head is aft for the IGV ring.

 (b)  
Attach the link and clevis with the D-head bolt and nut when the bolt head is forward for the 1st- thru 3rd-stage rings.

 (c)  
Tighten the nut to 105-115 pound-inches (11-13 Newton meters).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU CLOSE THE
_______ THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (10)
 Close the right and left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 Close the right and left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 (12)
 Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags from the start levers.
