3) Bad wear or missing material in area A is not permitted.
 NOTE: If you see this damage, the engine and the
____ borescope plug could be not serviceable. Do the steps that follow to find if the LPT 2nd- or 3rd-stage LPT vane segments have turned and the engine is not serviceable.
 a)  A maximum service extension of 50 cycles is permitted for the engine and borescope plug.
 b)  If it is necessary, you can do an inspection of the EGT probes to find if the 2nd- and 3rd-stage LPT vane segments have turned circumferentially. Use the steps that follow to do the inspection:
 1.  Remove the EGT thermocouple harness and the probes.
_ Start at the first probe after the borescope boss (2nd-stage) and continue until the probe at the 11 o'clock position in the clockwise direction (view in the forward direction) (AMM 77-21-01/401).
 a.  If you see signs of wear, missing material,
_ areas where two surfaces touched, or bent probes, then the engine is not serviceable.
 b.  If you do not see signs of wear, missing
_ material, areas where two surfaces touched, or bent probes, then the engine is serviceable.
 (b)  If you can not remove the borescope plug, make an inspection as follows: 1) Remove the EGT thermocouple harness and the probes. Start

 (3)  Install the 2nd-stage borescope plug as follows:
 (a)  
Apply a light layer of grease (CP2101) on the borescope plug
 threads and the mating surfaces.


 (b)  
Clean the borescope port threads with a soft wire brush.

(c)  Install the plug in the port.
 CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE BORESCOPE PLUG, DO NOT APPLY MORE
_______ THAN THE GIVEN TORQUE. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
 (d)  Tighten the plug to 57-63 pound-inches (6.4-7.1 Newton meters).
 NOTE: If the plug does not install and seat correctly,
____ remove the plug and examine it for unwanted contamination.
 (e)  Install lockwire to the plug.

 CAUTION: WHEN YOU DO AN INSPECTION OF THE 2ND- AND 3RD-STAGE BORESCOPE
_______ PLUGS, DO NOT REMOVE AND EXAMINE THE TWO PLUGS AT THE SAME TIME. FIRST REMOVE AND EXAMINE THE 2ND-STAGE PLUG, THEN INSTALL IT AND DO THE STEPS AGAIN FOR THE 3RD-STAGE PLUG. IF YOU REMOVE THE TWO PLUGS AT THE SAME TIME, YOU CAN ACCIDENTALLY INTERMIX THEM. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
 (4)  Remove the 3rd-stage borescope plug as follows (Fig. 602):
 (a)  Remove the rigid borescope plug from the turbine case at the 5 o'clock position.

 (5)  Examine the 3rd-stage borescope plug as follows (Fig. 603):
 (a)  If you can remove the borescope plug, make an inspection as follows: 1) Small marks in areas A, B and C, shiny or not, where two
 surfaces touch are permitted. 2) Worn surfaces or missing material in area B is permitted. 3) If you see bad wear or missing material in area A, the
