Install the 1st-stage vane assembly on the aligning offset holes of the booter asssembly with the 3 guide pins.

Remove the guide pins.
(a)
Lubricate the 24 thread nuts with a thin coat of grease.
(b)
Install (seat) the lst-stage vane assembly with 24 bolts.

Examine the seating of lst-stage vane assembly on 2nd-stage vane assembly with 0.001 inch (0.02 mm) feeler gage.

Let the parts return to ambient temperature.

Tighten the nuts to 100-110 pound-inches (11.5-12.5 newton-meters).

BOOSTER BLADES AND VANES - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General
_______
A. This inspection procedure is for the 1st-stage stator vanes. Borescope equipment is necessary to do an inspection of the booster blades and the remaining stages of the stator vanes (Ref 72-00-00/601). This procedure gives maximum service limits and extensions. If any damage exceeds these limits, the engine must be replaced (Ref 71-00-02/401).

A. Equipment
(1) Protective mats (two necessary) -Rubber Manufacturer's Association, Grade SC43,
neoprene sponge, 1 inch thick, approximately
3 x 4 feet with warning streamer attached.

(1) Open the applicable circuit breaker on the P6-2 circuit breaker panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE identifier:

ENG 1 START VALVE

ENG 2 START VALVE

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE PROTECTIVE MATS IN THE INLET COWL.
_______ IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE MATS YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(2) Install the protective mats in the bottom ID of the inlet cowl and the tape seam.
