 (1)  Open the applicable fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Open the applicable thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Remove the outlet guide vane (OGV) (AMM 72-33-01/401).

Examine the location and dimension of the defects on the OGV and compare with the repair limits (Fig. 806).

 (5)  
Use the abrasive cloth and blend repair the vane with your hand.

 (a)  
Remove at least 0.01 inch (0.25 mm) more material than the defect depth.

 (b)  
After the repair, the leading/trailing edge contour must be at least equal to the original contour and thickness.

 (c)  
If the distance between two blended areas on the leading or trailing edges is less than or equal to 10 times the depth of repair, then blend out the bottom of both repairs tangentially.

Clean the OGV with a clean cloth and acetone.

Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the repaired areas (AMM 70-40-01/201).

 (a)  No cracks are permitted.

 (8)  
Do a spot touch-up of the oxide film coating on the repaired area.
