 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE FOR THE THRUST REVERSER TO
_______ PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (2)  
Open the right and left fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (3)  Open the right and left thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).
 E.  Make an Inspection of the Front Stator Case on the HPC (Fig. 601)

 (1)  Examine the front stator case on the HPC for damage:
 (a)  
Cracks in the front stator case is not permitted.

 1)  A maximum service extension of 10 cycles or 25 hours is permitted with cracks that are more than 0.17 inch (4.3 mm) in length in the skin and no cracks in the flanges.

 (b)
Nicks, pits, marks and scratches in the front stator case:


 1)  There is no maximum limit of cracks, with all lengths that are more than 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) in depth after the removal of all burrs.
 2)  A maximum service extension of 10 cycles or 25 hours is permitted for all numbers of nicks, pits, marks and scratches to all depths.

 (2)  Examine the case horizontal flanges for bolts and nuts that are loose, broken or gone:
 (a)  
Not serviceable.

 (b)  
Replace the bolt or nut (AMM 72-35-00/801).


 NOTE: If more than five bolts or nuts are gone, broken or
____ loose, all the bolts and nuts in the two horizontal flanges must be replaced.

 (3)  Examine the actuation rings on the stator vane for damage:
 (a)  
The cracks on the actuation rings:
 1) Not serviceable.
 2) A maximum service extension of 5 cycles is permitted if


 there is no separation of the rings.

 (b)  
The distortion, bends or twists on the actuation rings:
 1) The actuation rings are not serviceable.
 2) A maximum service extension of 5 cycles is permitted if


 there is no separation of the rings.

 (c)  
Separation - Not serviceable.

 (4)  Examine the connecting links of the actuation ring for cracks (or broken links):
 (a)  
Cracks on one side of the engine only: 1) Cracks are not serviceable. 2) A maximum service extension of 5 cycles is permitted if you

 replaced the connector (AMM 72-35-00/801).

 (b)  
Cracks on the two sides of the engine is not serviceable.

 (5)  Examine the IGV and 3rd-stage stator vanes for damage:
 (a)  
Cracked or broken lever arms are not serviceable.
 1) Replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).
 2) A maximum service extension of 10 cycles or 25 hours is


 permitted if you replace the lever arm (AMM 72-35-00/801).

 (b)  
Bent or twisted lever arms:


 NOTE: If you see bends or twists in the lever arm, you must
