 2.  Removal and Replacement of LPT Shaft Plug O-Rings

 A.  Special Tools and Equipment NOTE: Equivalent substitutes may be used for the following items:

 (1)  Tool No. 856A2573: Adapter, puller - LPT shaft plug, - or -Tool No. 856A2632 (ALT): Puller
 B.  Consumable Materials NOTE: Equivalent substitutes may be used for the following items:
____
 (1)  Code No. CP2442: Engine oil
 C.  Remove LPT plug as follows:
 S 022-003-C00

 (1)  
Remove retaining ring from forward end of LPT shaft, using a scriber.

 S 022-004-C00

 (2)  
Remove LPT shaft plug using puller adapter, 856A2573 or 856A2632. S 022-005-C00

 (3)  
Remove and discard O-rings located in forward/aft grooves. S 022-006-C00

 (4)  
AIRPLANES WITH CFMI SB 72-069; Remove and discard O-rings located in machining undercut relief.

 (5)  Remove the puller adapter from the LPT shaft plug. Install the LPT shaft plug in the storage box.
 D. Installation of LPT shaft plug

 CAUTION: IT IS ESSENTIAL TO CORRECTLY INSTALL NEW O-RING INTO THE SEAL
_______ GROOVE PROVIDED FOR THIS PURPOSE AT THE FORWARD END OF THE LPT SHAFT PLUG.
 (1)  
Lightly coat new O-rings with engine oil (CP2442) and install into forward groove and machined undercut relief of LPT shaft plug forward end.

 S 642-010-C00

 (2)  
Lightly coat new O-ring with engine oil (CP2442) and install into aft groove of LPT shaft plug.

 S 422-011-C00

 (3)  
Install LPT shaft plug assembly into forward end of LPT shaft and onto center vent tube.

 NOTE: Insert lug of LPT shaft plug in aligned slots of LPT coupling

 nut and LPT shaft.

 S 422-012-C00
 (4)  Install retaining ring onto LPT shaft (Fig. 201).
