(a)
Switch off electrical power and disconnect the heating blanket.
(b)
Cut off the air source and disconnect the air hose from the pressure pad. Deflate the jacket (through the supply valve).
(c)
Let the temperature decrease and remove the slave bolts, the clamps, the pressure pad, heating blanket and the release film.
S 218-079-C00
(19) Do a quality check to examine the surface of the patch bonding as follows:
(a) Examine the surface of the patch to make sure it is entirely smooth and free of high or swollen spots.
NOTE: A high or swollen spot is an indication of a
____ possible entrapped air bubble between the patch and the fan case. Bubble defects can be confirmed by a finger touch.

(b)
To make sure the patch fully adheres to the fan case, do a tap test with a wooden or platic mallet as follows: 1) If you hear a constant sound all over the patch, the
bonding is correct. 2) If you hear a dull sound over some area of the patch, the bonding is defective under this patch area.
(c)
Acceptance criteria:
1) Bonding defects (bubbles) up to a maximum diameter of 2 inches (50 mm) are not permitted. a) You must repair the defect with the patch installed.
2) Bonding defects that are higher than 2 inches (50 mm) in their largest dimension are not serviceable. a) You must remove the damaged patch and do the procedure
again.
S 348-080-C00
(20) On-the-spot repair of bonding defects (bubbles) of 2 inches (50 mm) maximum length in their largest dimension.
(a)
Punch two opposite 0.12 inch (3 mm) diameter holes at the
periphery of the defect and at the ends of its largest
dimension.
(b)
Keep the punched-out pieces for later use as plugs.
(c)
Use the hole to inject the adhesive compound while the second hole is used as as vent.
(d)
Inject adhesive compound (as prepared in step 4.G.(9)) with a syringe.
(e)
Plug the two holes with the two punched-out pieces you have
kept. Hold them in place with adhesive tape.
(f)
Increase the temperature with a heat gun to cure the adhesive compound.
(g)
Do the tap test again to make sure of the quality of the
bonding. If not satisfactory, remove the patch and do the
procedure again.

CAUTION: USE APPLICABLE PROTECTION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT
_______ ACOUSTICAL PANELS DURING HAND-SANDING OF THE PATCH.
(21) Rework the patch by hand to the contour and dimensions of the adjacent areas of the abradable shroud.
(a)
Use abrasive cloth (CP 2239).
(b)
When you rework the patch to the contour and dimensions of the adjacent areas, use the clearance measurements you got at the start of this procedure.
S 218-116-C00
(22) Do a last check for defects on the patch.
(a) These limits can be used for defects such as:
scratches, scores and surface defects
1) Max. length of one defect: 0.196 in (5 mm)
