(1) Open the left and right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE

THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY
TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Open the left and right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
E. Make an Inspection of the Forward and Aft Outer Flanges
S 216-004-C00
(1) Examine the forward and aft outer flanges for these:
(a)
Cracks that connect the bolt holes - Not serviceable.
(b)
Cracks that extend from the bolt holes to the outer edge of the flange. 1) One for each hole not more than 0.2 inches (5.0 mm) in
length with a minimum distance of five holes between the cracks.
(c)
Cracks that extend from the bolt holes to the casing skin.
1) Five for each flange not more than 0.2 inch (5.0 mm) in length with a minimum distance of 10 holes between the cracks.
NOTE: Only axial cracks are permitted.

2) Cracks must not extend into the heat affected areas of a weld.
(d)
Cracks in other areas of the flange.
1) Five for each flange not more than 0.2 inch (5.0 mm) in length with a minimum distance of 5.0 inches (127.0 mm) between all other cracks.
(e)
Nicks, scores and scratches in the flange:
1) Five for each flange not more than 0.5 inch (12.5 mm) in length, not more than 0.020 inch (0.50 mm) in depth after the removal of all burrs, and with a minimum distance of
1.0 inch (25.4 mm) between the cracks.
