(1) Open the applicable fan duct cowl and thrust reverser half (Ref 78-31-00/201).

CAUTION:_______DO NOT FULLY REMOVE THE CAPTIVE BOLTS FROM THE PANELS. ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF THE RETAINING BUSHINGS BEHIND THE PANELS FALL INTO THE VBV AREA.
(2) Loosen but do not remove the captive bolts.

NOTE:____Two types of panels with four or eight bolts are installed. The panels are not interchangeable. The replacement panel must be of the same type.

Lubricate the bolt threads with graphite grease.
(2)
Make sure that all of the retaining bushings are with the panel.

(3) S 424-009-C00Put the fan duct panel on the fan frame.
(4) S 434-010-C00Tighten the captive bolts (four or eight) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.5-11 N.m).
(5) S 394-011-C00If it is necessary, apply the sealant in the stiffening channel spaces.
(6) S 394-012-C00Remove the unwanted sealant to get a smooth surface.
(7) S 414-013-C00Close the fan duct cowl and thrust reverser half (Ref 78-31-00/201).
