D.  Prepare for the Inspection.
 S 016-012-C00
 (1)  Open the left and right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE

 THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY
 TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

 (2)  Open the left and right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
 E.  Make an Inspection of the areas of the engine mounting lug and strut attach points
 S 216-014-C00
 (1)  Examine the areas of the engine mounting lug and strut attach points (includes the adjacent welds and those heat affected areas) for these:
 (a)  
Cracks that extend from the bolt holes - Not serviceable.

 (b)  
Cracks in the areas of the engine mounting lug, includes the welds: 1) One for each area not more than 0.15 inches (3.80 mm) in

 length with a minimum distance of 1.5 inches (38.0 mm) from all other cracks.

 (c)  
Nicks, scores and scratches in the lug and strut areas:


 1)  No maximum number not more than 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in length, not more than 0.020 inch (0.50 mm) in depth after the removal of all burrs, and with a minimum distance of
 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) between them.
 F.  Make an Inspection of the Struts on the Engine
 S 216-015-C00
 (1)  Examine the struts on the engine for these:
 (a)  
Cracks in the parent metal - Not serviceable.

 (b)  
Cracks in the welds - Not serviceable.

 (c)  
Nicks, dents and scores - All numbers not more than 0.020 inch

 (0.50 mm) in depth after the removal of all burrs.
