 2.  2nd- Thru 4th-Stage LPT Nozzle Assembly (Fig. 1)

 A.  The LPT nozzle assembly consists of the LPT case, 2nd- thru 4th-stage LPT nozzles, exhaust gas temperature (EGT) thermocouple wiring harness and probes, and the turbine case cooling air manifold. The nozzles consist of solid vane segments, and are installed inside the LPT case.
 B.  The LPT case is made of nickel alloy. The case front flange is bolted to the 1st-stage nozzle support and the LPT shroud support; the rear flange of the LPT case is bolted to the outer front flange of the turbine frame. The LPT shroud support is lined with abradable material. Attached to the LPT case inner surface are six insulation blankets. Each blanket is divided into segments, and is designed to house either the nozzle segment vane outer platforms or the outer air seal segments. The outer air seal segments are radially in line with the 2nd- thru 4th-stages of the LPT rotor. Nine EGT (T495) thermocouples are mounted on the LPT case and inserted into nine 2nd-stage LPT nozzle vanes.
 C.  The 2nd-stage LPT nozzle consists of 20 nickel alloy segments of six vanes each. The segment outer platforms are housed in the LPT case. The segment inner platforms are retained by an inner stationary air seal, which is the fixed part of the inner interstage rotating air seal. One of the vane segments has a port for borescope inspection at the 3 o'clock position. Nine segments have provisions for EGT thermocouple probes inside vane airfoil. Another segment has a T495 pressure tap (7 o'clock).
 D.  The 3rd-stage LPT nozzle consists of 21 nickel alloy segments of 6 vanes each and is similar in design to the 2nd-stage nozzle. One of the vane segments has a port for borescope inspection at the 5 o'clock position.
 E.  The 4th-stage LPT nozzle consists of 22 nickel alloy segments of 6 vanes each and is similar in design to the 2nd-stage nozzle. One of the vane segments has a port for borescope inspection at the 5 o'clock position.
 F.  The turbine case cooling air manifold consists of two cooling air manifolds made of aluminum alloy and two tube halves made of steel alloy. The two manifolds are mounted between the forward and aft flanges of the LPT case and are installed around the LPT case. Air supplied by the fan is delivered to the manifolds. The parting lines between the manifold halves are at the 1:30 and 7:30 o'clock positions. Each manifold is made up of six steel alloy tubes provided with orifices which direct the air onto the LPT case.

3.  LPT Rotor (Fig. 2)

 A.  Each LPT disk is made of nickel alloy. The 1st-stage disk front flanges accommodate a blade retainer which provides axial retention of the 1st-stage blades. The other stages utilize a rotating air seal for axial blade retention. The rotating air seals control air passage between the LPT nozzle and rotor and are mounted on the front flange of each LPT disk. The outer periphery has machined recesses accommodating the blade dovetails.
